Sited on the north bank of the River Mersey, Hale Village’s quiet & tranquil atmosphere is enhanced by thatched cottages and brightly coloured cottage gardens. Winner of several ‘Best Kept Village’ awards, it is surrounded by farms, nursery gardens and rolling countryside.

Its most famous inhabitant lived here more than 300 years ago. Reputedly the tallest man in Britain, John Middleton was also known as the ‘Childe of Hale’. It was alleged that he grew to 9ft 3 inches and his grave & cottage can still be seen today.
